For cleaning and softening
Wash the chamois by hand in lukewarm water with a small amount of mild, non-alkali soap or mild detergent. Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or degreasers

Rinse thoroughly repeatedly until all soap residue is gone and the water runs clear.

Wring out the excess water so the chamois is moist but not dripping wet as a damp chamois works best for drying surfaces like cars and will feel soft and flexible
